PISCATAWAY, NJ — The 2016 Football University National Championship Tournament recently announced its 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade tryout for the North New Jersey and South New Jersey all-star teams to be held under the lights at the Rutgers University practice facility in Piscataway.
The tryout is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. By hosting a combined tryout event for both of New Jersey’s National Championship all-star squads, the FBU National Championship expects more than 125 athletes to attend and vie for chance to compete in youth football’s premier national tournament.
The FBU National Championship features 64 teams at each of its three participating grade levels. This year's tournament will kick off Dec. 2 at eight regional sites across the country with more than 6,000 athletes and 1,200 coaches in participation.
The Path to Naples concludes with Championship Week, Dec.16-20, with the tournament’s final three rounds played in Naples, FL. To take a look back at what unfolded in last year’s tournament, see the highlights here.
The month-long tournament, the #PathToNaples, allows richly talented all-star teams in 6th, 7th and 8th-grade divisions from 36 states the opportunity to play on a national stage.
Tournament season officially kicked off with the Path to Naples Bracket Release Show, a live selection show, which aired on Sunday, Sept. 25.
In addition to the chance to compete for the title of National Champion, athletes gain tremendous exposure each year in FBU National Championship participation. Last year’s tournament had college scouts attending the 8th-grade National Championship semifinals and finals, and twelve players from that tournament have already received offers from Division I football programs.
