Guadagno Selects Woodcliff Lake Mayor Carlos Rendo As Running Mate

Kim Guadagno recently announced that Woodcliff Lake Mayor Carlos Rendo has been selected to be her running mate and choice to serve as lieutenant governor of the State of New Jersey.

As Guadagno’s running mate, Rendo will attend campaign events and appear together with Guadagno on the November 2017 General Election ballot.

“I am thrilled to have Carlos on the team,” said Guadagno. “His story embodies the American Dream and is a testament to all that is possible in New Jersey. As mayor of Woodcliff Lake, Carlos has built a reputation as a strong, bipartisan leader and advocate for lower taxes, open space and transparent government. As lieutenant governor, he will put that experience to work for New Jersey families to help me lower property taxes and audit all aspects of Trenton.”

“I am so honored and humbled to stand with Kim Guadagno today as her running mate,” said Rendo. “Kim’s vision for New Jersey is my vision for New Jersey, and I know that together, we will work tirelessly to ensure our state is once again an affordable, prosperous place where families can thrive.”

Rendo added, “My father was a janitor and my mother worked on a factory assembly line as a proud union member. They brought me to this country from Cuba to flee communism, but while Goldman Sachs Millionaire Phil Murphy is promising to bring single-payer healthcare and a state-run bank to New Jersey, Kim offers voters a better way. Together, Kim and I will rely on our Main Street values to lower taxes and expand opportunities so more people can afford to realize their version of the American Dream right here in New Jersey.”

Rendo also took aim at Phil Murphy’s decision to select former New Jersey House Speaker Sheila Oliver as his running mate: “It is inexcusable for Phil Murphy to choose a candidate for lieutenant governor who went on an unauthorized trip to Cuba to meet with the same repressive regime that is harboring the fugitive murderer of a New Jersey State Trooper. Phil Murphy may have someone’s back, but it isn’t the people of New Jersey.”

At a press conference in Hudson County, Guadagno announced that Rendo will lead an “Audit Trenton” Strike Force as lieutenant governor, which will conduct a performance audit of all aspects of government operations to eliminate redundancies, maximize efficiency and reduce costs for taxpayers. Within 100 days of taking office, Rendo will submit an action plan to the governor with an estimate of how much money can be saved and returned to the people of New Jersey in the form of property tax relief.

In the 80s, Gov. Kean conducted a similar audit of state government that identified an estimated $100 million dollars in savings for New Jersey taxpayers. Recommendations from a recent state government-wide audit in Louisiana identified $2.7 billion in savings over five years, and another in Kansas identified $2 billion in savings over five years.

In 2009,  Guadagno was elected the first lieutenant governor in New Jersey history. Over the last eight years, Guadagno has focused on outreach to the state’s business community, reducing unemployment – which has fallen from 9.8% to 4.1%, now the lowest in the region – and slashing burdensome regulations through the state’s Red Tape Review Commission.

The Negative Effects Of Prolonged Sitting And Workplace Tips From Pro Staff Physical Therapy

In recent years, media outlets have described sitting as the new smoking. This may seem like a stretch, but once you break that statement down it carries some truth. Cigarettes were not thought to be the cause of lung cancer and other serious diseases until the 1950s. Like the cigarette industry in the 1920s, the effects of prolonged sitting throughout the workday has largely been ignored and ...

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (Random House, 1965)

In Cold Blood is, quite simply, the grand-daddy of true crime writing, dubbed by Capote, himself, as the first non-fiction novel (although Norman Mailer argued the point when he published The Executioner's Song in 1979.) The conditions under which I read In Cold Blood for the first time were pretty weird, which was another ...
