NUTLEY, NJ – Standing ovations followed incredible performances by talented Nutley students during the Parks and Recreation Departments’ Drama Program presentation of ‘Hello, Nutley’ – a musical revue celebrating the rich history of theater productions produced by the township.
Three shows were staged during the weekend of May 10 and 11 at the Parks and Recreation Building, which was transformed into an intimate theatre setting, complete with the construction of a big stage, impressive sound, theatrical lighting and banquet seating for audience members.
Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci welcomed the sold-out crowd from the stage prior to the opening night performance on Friday, May 10.

“With the Nutley High School Auditorium out of commission, our Nutley Parks and Recreation Department did an outstanding job of transforming this gym into a theatre,” said Commissioner Tucci, Director of Parks and Recreation.  “We are very excited to host our Drama Program’s Spring Show ‘Hello, Nutley’ with music from your favorite Broadway shows that our Drama Program has presented over the past 20 years.”
In addition to the Friday performance, two performances were held on Saturday, May 11.
The student showcase featured Broadway musical solos, duets, small group songs and ensemble numbers from last 20 years of recreation department theatre performances.
The Nutley student-performers ranged in age from grades 3 through 12 who participated in this spectacular musical performance.  Auditions were held in March where students sang 16 bars of a song from a musical.
