NUTLEY, NJ - A township resident will make a December appearance in court in Newark to answer assault charges for an incident on October 13.

According to a report by the Nutley Police Department, Board of Education trustee Charles Kucinski filed a report after marching in the annual Belleville-Nutley Columbus Day parade. He reported that a man he only knows from the Facebook social media platform assaulted him at the intersection of Franklin Ave. and Stager St.  

The Essex County Prosecutors Office authorized charges against Lawrence Quirk, 62,  of Nutley for assault. Quirk was issued a summons and advised of a court date. Quirk is the spouse of another BOE trustee.

Kucinski currently serves as the Vice President of Nutley Board of Education. He was reelected to the school board on Nov. 5.
