Changes within the school system, both at the local level and from state mandated policies, have put some of the Nutley schools at capacity already, with some expected to be at capacity in a few years.
Population growth is one factor affecting schools, but as Dr. Glazer has explained in the three town hall meetings that have already taken place "we are not at fire code capacity, we are at program capacity." In the simplest terms, add a financial literacy requirement at the high school, and create classes for the more advanced students, or even those who need specialized instruction, and suddenly there is no more room.
These meetings are open to all members of the community including residents who do not have children in the school system. Parents that have children in other Nutley elementary schools may also attend the Spring Garden meeting.
