NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday June 17 to discuss and approve township business.
Commissioner Mauro Tucci addressed the commissioners and those present about the need to upgrade the turf at the soccer/lacrosse field at Father Glotzbach Park.
“In 2007 the grass was converted to a turf field. The original warranty was eight years. We are now approaching 10 years. We would like to expand it 10 feet past the end zones, remove the grass and make it much bigger. It will be all turf,” he explained.
Tucci then mentioned all the use of the field endeavors including lacrosse, recreation soccer, high school sports as well as Camp Nutley.
Rogers and Petracco both stated their approval of the recent improvements to the parks, supporting Tucci on this upgrade.
In 2007 the estimated cost was $562,712.50 and it was reduced to $536,146.80. Tucci explained the range they are looking at this time would be $320,000 to $360,000.
The grant application for $87,528 will be submitted to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Acres Land Acquisition and Park Development Program.
Rogers proclaimed February as National Heart Health Month and Feb. 3 as National Wear Red day.
Evans announced a resolution for temporary budget appropriations for 2017. Also temporary appropriations to the current fund/ Total Debt Service in the amount of $60,995 and water operating budget/Total Debt Service in the amount of $33,579.
A refund of overpayments of taxes charged to 21 Hamilton Place in 2016 in the amount of $2,491.97 was approved as well as a resolution to grant full property tax exemption to James S. La Faso at 27 Oak Crest Place from Jan. 5, 2017 and thereafter.
Petracco presented the resolution to enter an agreement with the Borough of North Arlington for use of its Pistol Range for Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2017.
He also offered the submission of a strategic plan for the Nutley Municipal Alliance Grant for the fiscal year of 2017.
The board authorized award contracts for Jan 1 to Dec. 31, 2017 to:
Sal Electric Company in Jersey City not to exceed $90,000 for electrical services;
Advanced Mechanical Corp. in Nutley not to exceed $90,000 for plumbing, heating, air conditioning;
BSN Sports in Jenkintown, PA not to exceed $25,992 for recreation uniforms, equipment and supplies;
Dot Design in Monroe Township not to exceed $21,000 for recreation uniforms, equipment and supplies;
KTAA Enterprise in Mount Laurel not to exceed $3,000 for recreation uniforms, equipment and supplies;
Metuchen Center not to exceed $8,692.25 for recreation uniforms, equipment and supplies and
R & R Trophy in North Arlington not to exceed $3,250 for recreation uniforms, equipment and supplies.
A bid from T-Mobile Northeast was rejected due to non-compliant with bid specifications.
New York SMSA, LP dpa Verizon Wireless in Basking Ridge was awarded for Park Avenue Monopole co-location lease.
The next commission meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 on the third floor at the Town Hall Commission Chambers, 1 Kennedy Drive.
