My name is Daniel A. Carnicella and I am excited to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Nutley Board of Education. I am a graduate of Nutley High School. Class of 1993, owner of an Insurance and Financial Consulting firm in Nutley, a homeowner, and most importantly a parent.
At an early age I learned that in order to implement positive change one needs to be involved. For this reason, I volunteer with community organizations whose purpose is the betterment of our Township. Currently, I serve on the
Executive Board of Nutley UNICO, an Italian American civic association, and Nutley Rotary. These organizations contribute significantly to local community needs as well as international charitable initiatives.
I have been fortunate to raise my daughter Chelsea (a graduate of the Class of 2016) in the Spring Garden section of Nutley and along with Linda, my fiance, continue the pleasure of raising her son Christian, who excels in the Nutley
Public Schools’ Autism Program. I firmly believe that our School District drives the direction of our Township.
During the past 6 years on the Board of Education, we have realigned the culture of the district, increased our state ranking and continue to excel as a school district amongst our peers. However, we need to continue to provide
the best opportunities for our children so they can reach their highest academic potential. The immediate challenges facing our District is to provide adequate classroom space within our main buildings, addressing the mental
health of our children by expanding district resources and counselors and most importantly, continuing the ongoing implementation of safety and security measures to keep our children safe as they grow and learn.
The role of a board education member is one many would call a “thankless job”, however for me it is one of the highest responsibilities a member of the community can hold. It requires an unwavering moral compass, and an
understanding that in times of emotion and uncertainty, the role requires nine individuals to discuss, evaluate, and challenge each other for the betterment of our children and community. It requires members that care, day in and day
out, about the long term stability and sustainability of our school district and this beautiful home we all call Nutley.
As sitting President of the Nutley Board of Education, I am dedicated to continuing to contribute to the positive progress of our school district and community to achieve its greatest success. Since 2013, I have been devoted to
providing oversight and acting as an independent voice for our children. I am fully committed to working alongside the rest of our trustees, Superintendent, and all stakeholders to put our children first. Our future depends on the
continued success of our schools and all of our children.
I look forward to meeting new faces, and sharing new ideas with our community members. On November 5th, I respectfully ask that you consider CARNICELLA 5-E for BOE!
