NUTLEY, NJ - Nutley Now Referendum 2017 Committee members went into their own pockets to pay for the lawn signs that showing up across the township.
“We understand that there is a population of the community which supports the referendum and a population opposed to it. Many community members attended the district’s Town Halls and, in October, attended community engagement meetings. Throughout this process, we gathered over 140 names of community members hoping to get involved by providing the community with information about the upcoming referendum. As the referendum neared, a community group formed and a NJ Elec (Election Law Enforcement Commission) account was opened, called the ‘Nutley Now Referendum 2017 Committee.’ Individuals donated their own money, which was then used to print the lawn signs and the committee distributed them. The lawn signs were not funded by the Nutley Public Schools.” Daniel Carnicella, Board of Education
“As chair of the ‘Nutley Now Referendum 2017 Committee,’ I, along with other community volunteers are working towards successfully passing the referendum next week. We are all volunteers, contributing our own time and money to support a proposal we stand behind and believe will benefit our schools, children, property values and the community as a whole. We are all entitled to our own opinions and we are providing our support for the referendum.” Thomas Sposato, Chair of Nutley Now Referendum 2017 Committee
Polls are open from 6am until 8pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.
