NUTLEY, NJ - This weekend residents who want to do a little more to help neighbors for the holidays can pick up grocery gift cards for clients of Nutley Family Service Bureau.
The holiday season is especially stressful for families of limited means. For many, even simple gifts cannot be purchased without having to chose between purchasing a gift or food. One of the missions of NFSB is to help their clients maintain feelings of independence, normalcy, maintenance of family and self-esteem. This weekend, the food pantry operation of NFSB is donating grocery gift cards to clients.
This addition to their usual grocery distribution will allow clients to 'free up' some of the money they would have used for groceries to purchase a toy or other gift for their family members.
Between now and Monday afternoon, NFSB is encouraging residents to purchase gift cards in $10 increments to stores like Shop Rite, Stop and Shop, and Target. The $10 value is requested because the pantry has a formula they distributing so many dollars of gift cards per client based on their household size.
Gift cards can be dropped off all weekend and on Monday to the 155 Chestnut St. location. That's the building alongside the municipal parking lot, closer to Passaic Ave. There is a locked mailbox on the porch where gift cards can be slid into the slot. NFSB encourages donors to include a holiday message in the "To - From" are of hte gift cards.
Gift cards can be dropped off over the course of the weekend or Monday morning.
