NUTLEY, NJ - The Township of Nutley is mourning the 64th resident to succumb to COVID-19. The most recent death was announced in the daily County of Essex coronavirus report issued May 3, 2021.
Today's announcement marks the 21th resident lost to COVID-19 in 2021.
Collectively, 2611 Essex County residents were lost to COVID-19, across the state, 22,975 souls were lost to the pandemic.
The County of Essex shed some light on the demographic breakdown of COVID-19 patients and deaths in the county. Details from the Township of Nutley were not provided.
Among positive COVID-19 cases, 52.3% are female, and 46.7% are male. There are some cases for which gender information is not available.
Among those who were lost of the pandemic, as of April 27, 2021, 45.1% are female and 54.9% are male.
The County of Essex provided data showing the rates of infection among age groups, as well as deaths among age groups. The charts (included in the photos section of this article), lend credence to the fact that while younger groups are not as prone to infection, they do seem to be among those spreading the virus to older groups.
