Criminal Mischief – Highfield Lane – Response was made to the area in regards to a report of criminal mischief. The homeowner returned home and found a portion of their decorative snowman was not lit. Upon inspection it was observed that a wire was cut. The approximate value of the snowman was $50.00.
Unlicensed Entry – Plymouth Road – Homeowner called dispatch to report that they found an unknown party in their garage. Officers arrived and placed David King, 32, of Belleville under arrest and transported him to Headquarters without incident. He was charged with Unlicensed Entry of Structures, advised of his Court date, and released from custody.
Motor Vehicle Crash – East Passaic Avenue – Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident where a vehicle struck a sewer drain (cracking the steel cover), jumped the curb, crashed through the fence, and came to rest after striking a tree stump. The incident resulted in the arrest of the driver, Shaun Harrell, 47, of Newark, who was issued summonses for Driving While Intoxicated and Careless Driving with a mandatory Court date.
Theft – Park Avenue - Officers noticed a party riding a bicycle with packages strapped to the back of the bike. After a brief interview it was found that the packages were taken from a porch front delivery located on Centre Street. Efrain Rivas, of Passaic was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters without incident. Mr. Rivas was also found to be a wanted party of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office along with having two (2) outstanding warrants out of the city of Passaic. He was processed and formally charged with two (2) counts of Theft and advised of his Court date. The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office arrived at Headquarters and took custody of Mr. Rivas.
Medical Emergency – Hancox Avenue - A call for medical aid resulted in the arrest of the driver, Mr. Antonio Murano, 57, Belleville, who was issued summonses for Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, all with a mandatory Court date.
Theft – Church Street - Officers responded to the area in regards to a report of theft. The victim stated that a party rang their doorbell then watched the male party leave and take their metal ADT sign, before getting into a blue Mitsubishi Outlander with no front plate.
Fraud – Headquarters received a report regarding a suspicious incident. The victim stated they received a notification on their phone from their cell carrier application that their payment did not register due to an error with their credit card on file. The victim re-entered their credit card information into the application. Today they received a text message notification from their cell phone carrier that their cell phone number was compromised and now issued to an unknown cell phone carrier.
Property Damage – Vincent Place - Officers responded to Municipal Lot # 3 where a tree, covered in ice, had fallen to the ground. A portion of the tree trunk was against a white Nissan. Once the town moved the tree, it revealed damage to the upper from of the passenger's side front door. The registered owner was on scene and aware of the incident. No further police actions needed.
Car Stuck On Tracks – Washington Ave. Police responded to Washington Ave
When a woman from Clifton inadvertently drove onto the tracks during poor weather visibility. A tow company needed to pull the car off.
Theft from Vehicle- Franklin Ave. A Nutley resident attempting to sell auto wheels on the sales site Offer Up met with a perspective buyer in Lot 1 in Nutley. When they could not agree on a price, the actor allegedly followed victim to a lot on Franklin Ave and smashed window in an effort to steel the wheels that were inside. Detectives were able to identify suspect vehicle and in the process of charging him.
