Call for Help – Police responded to Stager St when a caller reported someone calling for help. Police located a 92 y/o woman who exited her residence and had fallen outside. Police had medical personnel check her before reuniting with her caretaker.
Leaving the scene- Property damage on Satterthwaite, police were called to a residence that reported tire marks on their lawn and vehicle parts scattered around. Police are investigating.
Noise Complaint – River Rd Police were called on an excessive noise complaint , in which a neighbor told police the next door neighbor was reportedly playing Holiday Music too loudly. Police adjusted the situation.
Dispute- A motorist traveling along Centre St reportedly had a dispute with a pedestrian in an unmarked crosswalk. The driver told police that the pedestrian came out of nowhere and then spat at his window, then a dispute ensued. The pedestrian reported that the motorist sped up. Both were advised how they could sign a complaint if they wished to do so.
Leaving the scene of an Accident- Passaic Ave at Shepard. Police responded, to a call in which the motorist struck a sign. Upon arrival, the vehicle had fled the scene leaving behind damage to lawn and a downed road sign. Police are investigating and located parts of the vehicle that was involved.
Missing Juvenile- Parents of a missing 16 y/o reported to police that they dropped their 16 y/o off in Newark to attend a college party and when they did not hear from them two hours later made a missing person report. Police worked with Newark and surrounding agencies in an attempt to locate the teenager. Police followed leads into Linden, and Jersey City before locating the teen at a McDonalds in Belleville. The child was returned home at 5:00 AM.
Missing Dog- A Distraught Essex St resident reported that their White Maltese of 8 years “Biscuit” walked out of the residence and a passing motorist picked him up and left in a beige colored vehicle.
Police are requesting anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of Biscuit contact Police 973-284-4940.

Jazzy Scooter breaks down- Nutley Police assisted a Nutley Senior when his motorized mobility scooter broke down along Franklin Ave. Police and Police Mechanics were able to lift scooter onto a pick up and transport it back to the senior’s residence.
Arrest- Passaic Police arrested 29 y/o Ashley Smith of Nutley on an outstanding assault warrant out of Nutley. Nutley officers assumed custody of Smith and transported her to County Jail.
Aid to Injured- Nutley Police and EMS responded to a residence on Hillside Ave when a contractor fell off a ladder and sustained knee back and neck injuries. The 69 y/o Jersey City resident was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Dispute- Nutley Police responded to a Franklin Ave business when the caller reported that a man in his 70’s punched his window prior to engaging in a dispute where the two began shoving one another. The caller reported that the actor was in possession of a knife. When police arrived, they located the alleged actor and reviewed surveillance. Police found the man to be in possession of a knife however determined at no time was it brandished. Both parties were advised of their right how to sign a complaint.
Missing Person- Nutley Police took a report regarding a missing 62 y/o man who has a medical condition. He was reported as being last seen at 3:00 on Harrison St in Nutley. Police Hudson County Sheriff K-9 and Detectives searched for Mr. Steven Riker who was located in the early morning hours the following day at Belleville Ave and Broad St in Bloomfield by Bloomfield PD. He was checked by NRVS because he was in the cold for a prolonged amount of time and returned home.
Water Damage- Park Ave Police and Fire responded to a Park Ave residence in response to a water condition. It appeared from the window that water was pouring from the ceiling. The Fire Department made entry to turn the water off, with excess of an inch of water in the basement.
Missing Person- Nutley Police located a 71 y/o woman suffering from dementia. Belleville police put out an alert to surrounding agencies that the Orange NJ resident went missing from their town earlier this day. Nutley Police with the assistance of a concerned resident located the woman at Rutgers and Washington Ave. NRVS responded to check her before turning custody over to Belleville PD.
Welfare concern- Police responded to an E. Centre St location with fire and medical for a welfare concern. A neighbor reported mail, packages and papers piling up outside the Centre St residence. Police forced entry after receiving no answer at the door, and found the home vacant. Further investigation determined that the resident has been committed to a facility for care.
Stolen Vehicle- Kings St. A King St resident reported their 2013 Ford Focus stolen over the evening hours. When police arrived and furthered their investigation it was determined that the vehicle was repossessed by the banking institution.
It is a courtesy that repossession companies notify police when taking possession of a vehicle. This incident was not reported to police and treated as a stolen vehicle until officers determined it was in fact repossessed.
Water Damage- Chestnut St- A resident reported to Police that water was pouring from all of his light fixtures. Police and Fire made entry where the fire department needed to make “Relief holes” in the ceiling to alleviate the water build up in the ceiling.
Fire department was able to shut water off in the above apartment and contacted code officials to determine the extent of damage.
