Criminal Mischief – Headquarters received a report regarding an incident of criminal mischief.  The victim stated their vehicle, which was parked in their driveway, was found to have the right side windshield wiper arm laying on the ground.  The wiper appeared to be deliberately broken off where the base is bolted to the vehicle. There was no other damage to the vehicle. 

Police detectives investigating this act of criminal mischief along with five others, were able to identify the actor, on 2/13/2020. A 17 y/o Nutley juvenile was found to be responsible for the acts of criminal mischief and is facing multiple charges in relation to the incidents.

Motor Vehicle Stop – Bloomfield Avenue – A motor vehicle stop was initiated which resulted in the arrest of the driver, Genesis Navarro, 32, of Nutley.  She was transported to Headquarters, issued summonses for:   Operating Under Influence of Liquor or Drugs, DWI on School Property or W/in 1,000 ft of School, Careless Driving, Unsafe Lane Change, Rate of Speed Across Sidewalk, advised of her mandatory Court date, and released from custody.

Criminal Mischief – Prospect Street – Officers met with the victim of criminal mischief to auto.  The vehicle was found with the passenger side windshield wiper broken off and lying on the ground next to the car.  An estimate of repair was not available at the time of the report and the victim was advised of how to obtain a copy for their records.

2/11/2020

Theft – Union Avenue – Headquarters received a walk in report regarding a package theft.  The victim stated they ordered items valued over 100.00.  The items had not been received as of this date, and when the victim contacted the company regarding their package, they were told the items were delivered on 2/2/2020 but were not received by the victim.  The Detective Bureau was advised of the incident.

Phone Scam – There is a new phone scam beginning to surface in our area.  A phone call is received from a party representing themselves as a member of the “sexual pimp traffic organization.” They request money and threaten a family member of the victim they have contacted.  Several threats meant to cause fear in the victims are used to get the money sent to them.  Do not send money or give any personal account information.  Contact Nutley Police to report the incident.
