Fraud – A report of fraud.  The victim stated they received a FedEx delivery notice to their email that advised of a delivery to be completed today.  The victim had not ordered anything and checked their American Express account which showed a charge from Google in the amount of $1,097.16 for a Google Pixel phone and ear buds.  Upon checking their google account they tracked the delivery with the FedEx tracking number which indicated the package was being delivered in Phillipsburg, NJ, to an address not familiar to the victim.  .

Identity Theft – the victim stated they received a call from a health care company advising that someone attempted to open a new dental plan using the victim’s social security number and other pertinent information.  The heath care company opened an investigation regarding the matter.  The victim notified their financial institution and will be monitoring their three major credit scores with the appropriate companies. 

Theft – Centre Street – Officers responded to the area in reference to a past occurred theft.  The attendant stated that an unknown male asked for his gas tank to be filled and for a pack of Newport cigarettes.  The actor then asked to use the restroom.  Upon returned the key to the restroom, the male returned to their vehicle and advised the attendant that they left their wallet home and would come back to pay the $38.00 owed for the gas ($28) and cigarettes ($10).  The male left the scene.

General Investigation – Sherwood Lane – Officers responded to the area in regard to a report of glass in the roadway.  The homeowner stated they observed a large amount of small glass shards in the roadway and cleaned it up with another resident.  Additionally, the caller stated that they stepped on a piece of glass while barefoot in the street, but did not require medical attention.  The recycling had been collected on this day and there were glass shards present in the area of Wayside Lane, Blum Lane, Woodcrest Lane and Corsay Road.  Nutley DPW was contacted and advised of the incident.

Suspicious Incident – Chestnut Street – Response was made to the area on a report of a damaged door.  The caller stated that they noticed the side door of the home unlocked.  It appeared as if the door handle was old and the locking mechanism failed leaving the door unsecure.

Theft – River Road – the victim stated they ordered $68.00 worth of clothing from “an on line site.”  An email was received that the package was delivered, but upon attempting to retrieve the package, they were unable to find it.  It is believed the package was stolen from the complex.

Fraud – Headquarters received a report of fraud.  The victim stated that they began chatting on Facebook Messenger with a woman named “Sandra Joseph” approximately five (5) months ago.  Recently, Ms. Joseph asked for a monetary favor.  She claimed that due to the pandemic she was not able to obtain money.  Additionally, she sent images proving she was in fact who she claimed to be and was genuine.  The victim supplied her with their personal account information for their credit union, along with the password.  The bank contacted the victim to advised them that $4,000.00 had been withdrawn from their account.
