Field Interview – East Centre Street – Officers responded to the area in response to a suspicious incident which resulted in the arrest of Tyris Robertson, 29, of Nutley. He was transported to Headquarters without incident, processed, summoned for Possession of CDS Marijuana, advised of his Court date and released from custody.
Shoplifting – Harrison Street – The store manager of a local business reported a past occurred shoplifting. They observed a Hispanic male, in his early 30's, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing dark sunglasses and a dark colored coat, putting cases of Red Bull into his jacket. The suspect left the scene in an older model Nissan Altima, driven by another, with 6 cases of Monster Energy drink and 4 cases of Red Bull for a total of $93.72. They were last scene traveling westbound on Harrison Street.
Criminal Mischief – Hillside Avenue – Officers responded on a report of criminal mischief. Upon arrival they observed three broken windows on the passenger side of the bus that parks near the adult day care facility on Hillside Ave. The damage occurred when the windows were exposed to the train tracks when parked overnight. Inside the bus there were three rocks that appeared to have come from the train tracks
Identity Theft - Headquarters received a report regarding a identity theft. The victim stated that they received an email regarding being in collections from one of the major credit bureaus. An unknown actor used the victim’s maiden name, date of birth, and social security number while seeking treatment at a hospital located in Kansas. The victim was never in Kansas seeking medical treatment. The amount in collections is $2,500.00. Another account had also been generated for the amount of $1,805.00, but has not yet reached collections.
Identity Theft – Headquarters received a report regarding fraudulent activity occurring under the victim’s identity which was received from their Credit Karma alert. It was an inquiry indicating additional credit was possibly being applied for. Upon checking that account, the victim found two unauthorized purchases made: close to 5,000.00. The victim states that the physical credit card is still in their possession.
.Motor Vehicle Stop – Centre Street - Officers initiated a motor vehicle stop which resulted in Sawyer Swanson, 21, of Nutley, being taken into custody. He was transported to Headquarters without incident, processed, charged with Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, which were placed on summons. Additionally, motor vehicle summonses were issued for Delaying Traffic, and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. He was advised of his Court date and released.
Fraud - Headquarters received a report regarding fraud. The victim stated that two (2) fraudulent charges appeared on their checking account. The charges totaled over $500.00, were reported to their financial institution, the account cancelled and will be reimbursed upon completion of their Fraud Department’s investigation.
10/24/2019 Traffic Accident leads to recovery of stolen vehicle and two arrests.
At 1:47 PM a police officer conducting a motor vehicle stop on Park Ave. was advised by another motorist that they had just been struck from behind. As the officer attempted to obtain information the actor, driving a red 2011 Pick Up truck fled from police. Other officers in the area attempted to catch up to the truck on Rt 21 North. A bail out was reported on the Rt 3 on ramp at which time one of the actors Jose Cruz (driver) 23 y/o of Bronx NY jumped from the overpass approx. 30’ landing below with leg injuries. He resisted arrest and was subsequently transported to an area hospital. The passenger Kevin Suncar 25 of Bronx NY fled the scene and was apprehended by Clifton Police in the area of River Rd. and Delawanna. It was later discovered the red pickup had been stolen earlier from a contractor’s yard in New York. Jose Cruz was charged with Resisting Arrest, Eluding and Aggravated Assault on an Officer, while Kevin Suncar was charged with Obstruction and Receiving Stolen Property.
