NUTLEY, NJ - Officers from the Nutley Police Department made a motor vehicle stop on Washington Avenue after noticing a shattered rear window. The two occupants now have court dates to face multiple charges include drug related counts.
After making the initial stop Nutley Police were notified that the vehicle in question was stolen from Belleville. Once additional units arrived, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Police found an additional New Jersey license plate and drug paraphelia including two hypodermic needles.
The driver, Nicholas Zappulla, 29, and Michael Petrozzino, 24, both of Belleville, were taken into custody and transported to headquarters without incident.
Once at headquarters Zappulla was found to have outstanding warrants from Clifton Pequannock. He was charged with receiving stolen Property (two counts) 3rd degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of hypodermic syringe. He also must answer to motor vehicle summonses for seatbelt, suspended driver’s license, expired driver’s license, and released with his mandatory Court dates.
Petrozzino was charged with Possession of Hypodermic Syringe, was processed, given a copy of his summons, and released from Police custody without incident.
