NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Public Library is continuing their 'Food for Fines' program through the end of October. The program was originally a part of the last week of  'National Library Card Sign Up Month' in September.

The Nutley Public Library will remove up to $5 in fine from patrons' accounts in exchange for donations of non-perishable food that will be delivered to the Nutley Family Service Bureau .

The library will remove one dollar for each items brought to the desk, up to $5 per card. The program can only be applied to fines that originate in Nutley, fines from inter-library loans are not eligible for this program.

According to Nutley Family Service Bureau, the ideal items to donate include peanut butter and jelly, and cereal. Donations of other non-perishable food items will gladly be accepted as well.
