NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Public Library will remove up to $5 in fine from patrons' accounts in exchange for donations of non-perishable food that will be delivered to the Nutley Family Service Bureau .

As a part of National Library Card Sign Up Month, patrons with fines for overdue books can bring donations of canned and non-perishable food to the circulations desk anytime from September 25 to September 30. The library will remove one dollar for each items brought to the desk, up to $5 per card. The program can only be applied to fines that originate in Nutley, fines from inter-library loans are not eligible for this program. 

According to Nutley Family Service Bureau, the ideal items to donate include peanut butter and jelly.
