NUTLEY, NJ - Nutley Public Schools superintendent Dr, Julie Glazer issued the following statement regarding the availability for counseling services for students.
Dear Nutley Parents, Staff and Community,
On Friday, we learned of the loss of our friend and classmate, Jillian Baluyot, a Nutley High School senior.
The Nutley Public School district continues to provide support to students and staff regarding this tragic loss. While counselors are available at all district schools and to all our students and staff, the Nutley Family Service Bureau has also offered additional support services to anyone who would like to speak with a counselor.
Anyone wishing to see a member of the Nutley Family Service Bureau team after school hours, please feel free to visit 155 Chestnut Street for an open-door, confidential drop-in grief counseling session on Monday, June 5th, from 3pm until 6pm and Wednesday, June 7th, from 5pm until 9pm.
In addition, I would like to make you aware of the arrangements for Jillian.
Visitation will take place as follows:
Tuesday, June 6th Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave. Clifton, NJ 4pm – 8pm, Service at 7pm Wednesday,
June 7th Bible Church International, 791 Route 10, Randolph, NJ 4pm – 9pm, Service at 7pm
If your child plans to attend any portion of the visitation or service, parents are encouraged to attend with them. Students will have varied reactions to the death of a peer. Any reaction is normal in the grief process and can range from withdrawal, to crying and anger. I encourage you to openly discuss with your child their reactions and feelings and to reach out for support services when necessary.
Once again, we, as a school district, offer our deepest condolences to Jillian’s family and friends.
Dr. Julie Glazer
