NUTLEY, NJ - Local realtor Matthew De Fede is too busy running his local real estate office to run for Nutley Board of Commissioners. As residents continue to pick up candidate packets for the May 12 election, De Fede, who recently listed the Ruth Bedford home for nearly $900,000, made his intentions known in a self-published article on Patch.
In his article, De Fede also weighed in on the On3 redevelopment project on the North end of the township. "I believe that the ON3 complex can either be a massive boom to the town or a massive failure, It all depends on how it's handled"
With De Fede not running, that leaves the potential field to potential 14 candidates. To date, Daniel A. Carnicella, Lorenzo Marchese, Dr. Joseph P. Scarpelli, Carmen Allessio, Alphonse Petracco, David Wilson, Ken Reilly, Frank Contella, Pearl Wang, Tom Evans, Chris Cullari, Sam Fleitell, John Kelly, and Mauro Tucci have picked up candidate packets. Before making it onto the May ballot, they must obtain signatures from residents of the township before the March 9 deadline to file.
Candidates and their supporters may wish to take note of the TAPinto Nutley 2020 Election Policies that include information regarding issues like candidate statements and political advertising.
