NUTLEY, NJ - Proposed construction, and community reaction to proposed construction, is the big topic in education in Nutley. Here is an outline of what is being proposed:

WASHINGTON ELEMENTARY PROJECT - $6.95 Million

  • Six classrooms in a three-story addition
  • Toilet facilities
  • Elevator
  • Removal of trailers

NUTLEY HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT - $8.95M

  • Four additional classrooms and common learning areas as a result of renovating the media center/TV studio space
  • Additional physical education/multi-purpose space
  • New media center developed to include the TV studio

 

YANTACAW ELEMENTARY PROJECT - $15.6Million

  • Six classrooms
  • Multi-purpose room with a kitchen that will also service Spring Garden
  • Toilet facilities
  • Relocation of main office + a secure entrance
  • Removal of trailers

JOHN H WALKER MIDDLE SCHOOL PROJECT – $36.7M

  • 20 additional classrooms
  • Cafeteria and service kitchen
  • Multi-purpose room
  • Toilet facilities
  • Secure entrance and reconfiguration of the office wing

Total Cost of Projects= $68.9M

District will contribute approximately $2.4 million from capital reserve

Total Cost to Bond = $66.5M
