NUTLEY, NJ – It was a magical evening filled with fairy tale delight during the annual Princess Ball on Thursday evening at Parks and Recreation Center in Nutley.
Young residents came dressed as their favorite princess in full Disneyesque costumes during one of the most popular fall traditions in the township. There were characters from Frozen, Cinderella, Snow White and Little Mermaid.
“This is one of our most enchanting events of the year,” said Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci, Director of Parks and Recreation. “This is where every little girl in the Township of Nutley is a princess. They are all our princesses and we love them.”

Fairy tales came to life as the children encountered full-size characters from their favorite stories allowing them to step into another persona and experience something enchanted.
Student volunteers from Nutley High School assumed the roles of the adult characters and took photos with their young princess look-a-likes.
A real-life Cinderella horse took the youngsters on a pumpkin carriage ride around the recreation department parking lot through the brisk fall air.
“We have the white horse and the enchanted carriage to take them for a ride,” Tucci said.
The princesses were treated to a catered buffet dinner and live musical entertainment with many familiar Disney theme songs.
“Everyone looks forward to this event, and it’s been sold out for weeks,” Tucci added. “We had to keep upping the number because more and more girls wanted to come.”
Representatives from Nutley’s Relay For Life were present selling magical wands, lollipops and chocolate covered candies to raise funds for American Cancer Society.
Tucci, beaming with excitement while looking at the smiles on both the children and their parents, concluded, “it’s a wonderful night and one of our best events of the year.”
