NUTLEY, NJ - Steve Rogers was chosen by Elisa Taylor, Donald Trump promoter, event planner and founder a Facebook group, to be the keynote speaker for President Donald Trump’s Inauguration Gala Black Tie "RED" at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel on Friday, Jan. 20.
“It’s an honor to be the keynote speaker,” Rogers told TAPinto. “To be part of the Republican campaign it’s a great honor,” he said.
According to Taylor, Rogers was chosen because of his dedication and support of Trump throughout his campaign. “We wanted someone from the Republican Party who was a tremendous Trump supporter. He is the right person for governor of the state of NJ and this is a platform for people get to know him up close and personal,” she said.
“The Gala was put together for local NJ people to attend and Rogers felt compelled to support the local people and be here,” she said. “[Rogers] is very much in line in what we wanted and saw in Donald Trump and his agenda. The new president in office won’t achieve those goals without the right supporters backing him. Rogers is much more in line of achieving those goals than any other person running for [NJ] governor,” stated Taylor.
“This is the end of my journey of the presidential campaign but a new journey begins on the path to governor,” Rogers said. Taylor feels that Rogers military service and 38 years with the Nutley Police Department is an asset for his run for NJ governor. “Two great services, the military and police that have been downplayed and discouraged in the last eight years,” said Taylor.
In his speech he will first thank all the supporters for the job they did to get Trump into office. He will then address the issues that are facing the country and well as NJ. Rogers will speak on unity. He wants the governors across the country to unite to “make America great again.”
“[The states] have been divided the past eight years. Trump wants unite the country,” he said. “Everyone is equal no matter what race, color, creed or background, everyone is American. [We need] to bring everyone together, make this a united states once again.” he continued. “I will be the first person connected in NJ to the Trump campaign running for governor in the country. In fact I was the first elected official in NJ to support Trump,” he explained
“Rogers has integrity in everything he says. He is what we need, a man who will be nonpolitical and get these things done,” explained Taylor. Rogers officially announced his run for governor at a press conference at the Madison Hotel in Morristown in December.
TAPinto Nutley was the first news organization to break the news of Rogers' consideration for running in November 2016.
