BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Ami Brabson is bringing her one woman show, Phenomenal Woman, to the Westminster Center for the Arts at Bloomfield College for one night only Friday February 24.
The one woman cabaret show will be the featured grand finale of the black history month events at the Westminster Arts Center at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, NJ.
Brabson has had recurring roles in a number of television shows. She frequently appeared as Mary Pembleton in Homicide: Life on the Streets. Additional television credits include Law and Order SVU, Damages, Unforgettable, The Beat, Wonderland, and various daytime dramas.
Brabson produced and starred in the New York Premiere of 'Tough Titty' Oni Faida Lampley. Among her favorite e regional theater roles are Berniece in August Wilson‘s 'The Piano Lesson', Helena in Shakespeare’s 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', and Rose in August Wilson‘s 'Fences'. Brabson is also an accomplished soprano and cabaret singer. She has performed at New York venues as varied as Merken Concert Hall and Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar. She received her MFA from the NYU / Tisch Graduate School of Acting.
With a little help from strong women like poet Ruby Dee, songstress Phoebe Snow and Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Brabson explores the many facets of being a phenomenal woman. This evening of music, poetry and storytelling celebrates women who have dared to speak their minds.
