NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Police Department and Nutley First Aid Squad responded quickly to a single vehicle accident on High Street Sunday afternoon. Paramedics from St. Mary's General Hospital also responded.
According to witnesses at the scene the motorist turned left from Bloomfield Avenue onto eastbound High Street (toward Franklin Avenue). The vehicle drove past Funston, then swerved, crossing out of their lane, before striking a tree at corner of High Street and Lake Street.
Another witness told TAPinto Nutley that neighbors in the area immediately called 9-1-1 and provided assistance to the motorist before the first responders arrived. One of the neighbors brought a blanket to the driver as first aid treatment for shock.
The airbag of the black Kia inflated. The driver was the only person in the vehicle.
One of the neighbors spoke to the driver and asked for the phone number of family. That person called the driver's wife to offer details of what happened and advise the family about where the driver was taken.
TAPinto Nutley is awaiting a formal response from the Nutley Police Department.
