NUTLEY, NJ - A second resident issued a public statement expressing their intention to not run for a seat on the Nutley Board of Commissioners.
Last week, realtor Matthew DeFede published an article on Patch stating that he would not be running in the May 12 election. On Saturday, Karen O'Malley stated that she would not be running. O'Malley wrote:
For my Nutley friends: as you may (or may not) know I have been seriously contemplating a run for Commissioner in this election. As rumors do fly I thought I would share where I am at personally. I have held meetings, gotten feedback and generous support. It was not an easy decision however I have decided to not run. Thanks to those who were willing to support me, it means so much.
To date, Daniel A. Carnicella, Lorenzo Marchese, Dr. Joseph P. Scarpelli, Carmen Allessio, Alphonse Petracco, David Wilson, Ken Reilly, Frank Contella, Pearl Wang, Tom Evans, Chris Cullari, Sam Fleitell, John Kelly, and Mauro Tucci have picked up candidate packets. Before making it onto the May ballot, they must each obtain 225 signatures from residents of the township before the March 9 deadline to file.
