Maplewood/South Orange, NJ – The entire community has been invited to a ceremony entitled Shofars for Justice: A Call to Action for Black Lives and in memory of the Honorable Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Sunday September 20 at 7 pm. at Maplewood Town Hall.

The event this evening is hosted by three organizations: North Jersey Pride, SOMA Action Events, and SOMA Justice – Addressing Race and Inequality.

The hosts have selected the Shofar Blowers, and request that no additional ones are brought to the ceremony. Additionally, they have reminded all that social distancing will be observed, and all attendees MUST wear face masks, and encouraged to bring a candle which they can light.

Additionally, their post on Facebook states: “This intersectional Shofar service brings together our community, of all faiths or none at all, to mourn the death of the Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg and to reaffirm our commitment to the Black Lives Matter movement in 5781/2021 and beyond.”
