LIVINGSTON, NJ — Jaclyn Williamson and Alex Moresco led the Livingston High School softball team to an exciting 7-6 victory over Nutley at home on Monday.
The Lancers came out strong in the first with three earned runs and held a 3-0 lead until the fifth, when they then secured a 5-0 lead. Nutley had a short-lived comeback with four runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to bring the score to 6-5 in Nutley’s favor.
The Lancers answered with two runs of their own in the final inning to surpass Nutley. Moresco earned the final run for the team in the seventh with a walk-off single.
Williamson led the Livingston team from the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI in the victory.
The game ended in a close 7-6 final score, advancing the Lancers to a 7-8 overall record and a 4-4 record for conference play.
Halfway through the season, the team is now tied for third in the conference with Cedar Grove (also 4-4), with both teams trailing only West Essex (7-1) and Mount St. Dominic (7-1).
The Lancers take on Cedar Grove on Wednesday at home and will then play Montclair on Saturday in the first round of the Essex County Tournament.
