NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Academic Booster Club reports that several unopened envelopes containing registrations and checks for the organization's Let's Learn summer education program were stolen in the course of a burglary early Sunday morning, June 4th. The organization urges anyone who mailed in their registration within the last few days to contact them immediately.
The stolen envelopes had been collected from the Nutley Post Office on Saturday afternoon June 3rd and were most likely put in the mail within the previous few days. The number of stolen envelopes is small, and the vast majority of registrations for the program have been received and processed safely.
"The police officer I spoke to believes the thieves were looking for quick cash and are not likely to try to cash the checks," said Tricia McKinney, President of the Nutley ABC. "But of course we want to do everything in our power to prevent any of the stolen checks from being cashed. I apologize for any problems this theft has caused."
Anyone who suspects that their registration and check were taken is asked to email email@example.com as soon as possible. The Nutley ABC will reimburse stopped check fees for any affected registrations.
