NUTLEY, NJ - The Friends of the Nutley Public Library are hosting an art exhibit and wine-and-cheese reception at the Kingsland Manor on Saturday, April 29 at 5:00 to 7:00pm in celebration of the township’s first-ever Plein Air painting event held earlier in the day. “En Plein Air’’ is a French expression for “in the open air.” Rather than working in a studio, plein air painters enjoy the natural light outdoors and work to capture the changing light and color on canvas.
In this one-day “Paint Out,” twenty registered artists will set up their easels to paint the Kingsland Park landscape from 8:00am to 3:00pm. At the evening reception, all will have the opportunity to view original paintings up close, purchase artwork, enjoy refreshments and hear live music. There will also be a chance to win a signed print by noted Nutley-artist Gary Erbe.
Tickets to the wine-and-cheese reception are $20 per person and may be purchased at the library prior to April 29. Tickets purchased at the door of the Manor will be $30. Monies raised will be used to support the library’s semi-annual book sales, teas, authors’ events, trips to NYC cultural events and other activities including the Summer Reading Club and other library programs.
The Friends of the Nutley Public Library support the activities and purposes of the Nutley Free Public Library in enhancing the artistic, cultural, humanitarian, intellectual and literary aspects of community life.
