NUTLEY, NJ - Weight restrictions remain in place on bridges crossing the Third River at Chestnut St, Vreeland Ave, and Harrison St. as construction continues on the Centre St. bridge.

On June 7, an ordinance “Weight Restrictions” was introduced by Commissioner Alphonse Petracco. Centre St, a county road, is a major route for trucks serving and traveling through the township. The other bridges over the Third River in town, were not designed to handle the weight and volume of these vehicles. The bridges affected by the ordinance include Chestnut St. Vreeland Ave, and Harrison St.

The ordinance added a four ton weight limit on Chestnut Street from Franklin Avenue to Passaic Avenue; Vreeland Avenue from Franklin Avenue to Passaic Avenue; Evelyn Place from Park Drive to Passaic Avenue; and Harrison Street from Franklin Avenue to Passaic Avenue.
