Charles W. Kucinski has announced his candidacy for re-election to the Nutley Board of Education. A seasoned veteran of the Nutley BOE, Charlie previously served from 1982-1997 and once again from 2010 to the present. During his tenure the district achieved improved ratngs and a much-needed balance between academics, the arts, and athletics.
Charlie is running for re-electon to maintain the stability of the Board, and the district. His independent viewpoint allows him to identify opportunities to control spending and make both educated and ethical decisions, while preserving the heritage and pride of Nutley. His experience on the board coupled with hisprofessional background has also given him a keen perspective regarding safety measures in the schools.
A life-long resident of Nutley, the Kucinski family dates back to 1920 when Charlie’s grandmother opened Kucinski’s Bakery on Franklin Avenue. His father, Charlie, his sister, and his two daughters attended Lincoln School, and are all graduates of the Nutley school system (1936, 1959 and 1991). His grandchildren (Kenny) are the future classes of 2024 and 2027! Charlie is very proudly a long-standing stakeholder in Nutley.
Five generations, while not a unique distinction for Nutley, defines Charlie’s desire to continue serving his community and its school district. He brings experience, integrity, and stability to maintain a well-balanced educational system where tradition influences a better tomorrow.
Charlie’s resume includes a Bachelor of Science in Education from Montclair University, he is a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam war, a 34-year Nutley career firefighter retiring as Executive Officer. Since 1997, Charlie has worked in the private security industry helping to design and man safety and security programs for commercial and industrial real estate owners.
During his most recent tenure on the Board of Education, Charlie has served as President and Vice President. He chaired the Negotiations and Administration committees raising the bar for students and teachers while being fiscally responsible to the taxpayers of Nutley. He’s been a member of the Academics and Finance committees and is focused on continuing to improve our academic ratings, enhancing technology, promoting health and wellness and a comfortable, secure environment.
In closing, Charlie is running on his record. It, and he, demonstrates the experience, the skill, and the dedication required to be a successful member of the BOE.
