NUTLEY,  NJ  - After making headlines earlier this year with their township wide mask-making project, the team at Pretty Handy shifted production to create masks for the Elf on the Shelf.

Part maker-space, part gift shop, Rob Noone and Joyce Lin of Pretty Handy shifted gears this spring to make masks as a fundraiser for a local service organization. As the state began to open up, and the gift shop re-opened, mask production continued, along with new locally made items for the gift shop.

In recent weeks, mask-production shifted to include custom-made masks for the beloved Elf on the Shelf to keep the elf in compliance with NJ Gov.Phil Murphy's mask mandate.. After making more than 2,000 masks to date, the Pretty Handy team used that expertise to make custom fitting masks for the Elf on the Shelf.

The masks, available in store for $5 each come in a variety of patterns. Many match human sized  masks, also available the Franklin Ave. shop.

Lin told TAPinto Nutley that demand for the elf masks is very high, so customers are encouraged to visit the shop early. Noone and Lin are also the chairs of the Nutley Chamber of Commerce "Small Business Saturday" event and predict that the current inventory of elf masks may sell out before them. Given the popularity of last year's Black Friday and Small Business Saturday events, Lin said they may not be able to make more masks until after the holiday weekend, "so shop early."

Small Business Saturday is November 28. The Nutley Chamber of Commerce, and Rob and Joyce of Pretty Handy, encourage everyone to shop small that day, and every day.
