With the second annual Nutley Rotary set  to take over Franklin Ave, Thursday, let's take a look back at TAPinto Nutley's report from the first show in September 2018:

NUTLEY, NJ– Despite uncooperative weather, antique vehicles from across the East Coast roared into town as The Rotary Club of Nutley hosted their first annual Classic Car Show on Wednesday evening along Franklin Avenue.

The outdoor show, taking place in a light rain, included an array of classic cars, muscle cars, custom cars, street rods, motorcycles and other vehicles from the 1950’s to the 1980’s.

“There’s a lot of beautiful cars here with some antique models well represented,” said Rosemary Costa, who was installed as President of Nutley Rotary this past June.  “There’s a lot of activities for residents to watch and look at and enjoy.  This is an amazing event!”

Nutley Mayor Joseph P. Scarpelli kicked off the opening ceremonies by welcoming the residents and volunteers.  New York City comedian Mad Dawg Mike Jenkins then provided some family-friendly laughs during the rain-soaked gathering.

“It’s great to be here tonight surrounded by so many classic cars – it takes me back to the good old days when people weren’t afraid to leave their house and go outside in a little rain,” said Jenkins.

The event was coordinated by Rotary member John Monaco, owner of A Personal Touch Florist, who presided over the awards ceremony to close out the festivities.

A wide variety of food was available at the event, with Spanky’s Gourmet Grub food truck the biggest hit.  Robert Frannicola of Ultimate Entertainment provided the live music.

Proceeds from the charity event benefit the Nutley Policemen’s Benevolent Association and Firefighters’ Mutual Benevolent Association.  Members of the Police Department, Fire Department and Essex County Sheriff’s Department were present.

Nutley Rotary was organized in 1922, and world-wide has 1.2 million individuals in over 35,000 clubs.  Rotary are professional people who have joined together, sharing their skills and expertise for the benefit of the community.
