Preschool age children and their caregivers enjoy old and new picture books, create arts and crafts, and meet other children from the Nutley area. Registration is required.

Wednesday, May 1, 8, 15, 22 at 1:00 p.m. – Wednesday Afternoon Knitters. Come share your love of knitting and crocheting with both beginning and experienced knitters. Meet fellow knitters, brush-up on your skills, and learn some new techniques. Please bring your own supplies. This group meets every Wednesday.

Friday, May 3, 10, 17, 24, at 10:00 a.m. – Two-Year-Old Story Time. Must Be Nutley Resident. Two-year-old classes are for children 2 years of age. Two-year-old children and their caregivers enjoy old and new picture books, create arts and crafts, and meet other children from the Nutley area. Registration is required.

Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m. – Free Comic Book Day.  Get free comics and make a craft to take home.  No registration required.

Monday, May 6 at 6:45 p.m. - Hooked-On-Books Reading Club. Hooked-On-Books Reading Club is for students entering the grades 4-6. Each month we will read and discuss a selected book, play a game and enjoy snacks. The monthly selection can be picked-up and borrowed at the Circulation Desk. Please read the book prior to attending the meeting. 7:00 p.m. – DISH!  The Monday Night Cookbook Club.  Each month patrons will choose, prepare at home, and share a DISH!  From a selected cookbook.  We will then gather to sample each others recipes, discuss our cooking techniques, and share stories and culture.

Tuesday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. – Tuesday Afternoon Book Club.  This group meets at the Nutley Parkside Apartments and warmly welcome new members.  This month’s book is Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson

Tuesday, May 7, 14, 21 at 9:30 a.m. – Babygarten classes are for children ages birth through 23 months. Babies and their caregivers enjoy great books, nursery rhymes, playtime, and meet other babies from the Nutley area. Registration is required. Must Be Nutley Resident.

Tuesday, May 7, 14, 21, 28 at 1:00 p.m. – Play Bridge and Mahjong. No registration required.

Thursday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. – Card Making Sessions.  Join us for fun and easy card making classes.  You will learn techniques for making your own greeting cards using paper crafting tools, rubber stamps and other materials.

Friday, May 10 at 3:00 p.m. – Manga/Anime Club for Teens – Grades 7-12

Saturday May 11 at 2:00 p.m. – Till Then:   The letters of John and Abigail Adams Reader’s Theatre.  Ginny and Steve Crooks will be reading the letters of John and Abigail Adams, a compilation they assembled themselves. 

Saturday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m. – Page to Screen Club where members compare and contrast a movie to the book it was based on.  This month we are asking attendee to briefly discuss one of their favorite film adaptations.  It can be a recently released movie or a classic. It is not required to read the book prior to the discussion.  This program is free and all are welcome to come.  Registration Required.  10:30 a.m. – STEAM Story time:  All ages.  Explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering, art and math with stories and fun activities.

 Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. – Join the Friends of the Nutley Public Library for the Annual Lee Rae O’Brien Author Tea with Julie Maloney.  High Tea will be served by Tarik Huggins.  Ms. Maloney, author of “A Matter of Chance”, will visit with guests to chat and sign her book.  Copies will be available for sale.  Please contact the library for registration information.

Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. – Learn about the art of flower arranging.  Discover a new hobby and create your own arrangement with John Monaco of “A Personal Touch Florist.”  For children ages 7 and up.  Space is limited.  On-line registration required.  Donations will be accepted to the friends of the library for future library programs.

Saturday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m. – Butterfly Garden Dedication in memory of Friends of the Library and Rotary volunteer Grace Viola.  – LEGO Play Time. For ages 5-12. No registration required.

Monday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. – Family Fun Night – Listen to stories, and enjoy games and special activities for the whole family.  No Registration Required.  For All Ages.

Thursday, May 23 at 3:00 p.m. – Make and take workshop with Allison Zuzzio of LaLa Studios.  Make relaxing spa creations to take home in the fun workshop – Grades 7-12.  Registration Required.  7:00 p.m.  Join us for a movie to see the “1918 Nutley Memorial Day Parade”.  This film will be hosted by Mayor Scarpelli and John Demmer.

Friday, May 24 at 3:00 p.m. –3:00 p.m. - Game On!!  Calling all Gamers.  Join us for some video gaming fun!

Selected Fridays 3:15 p.m.:  Origami Fridays.  Join artist Nobuko Okabe and make a beautiful paper creation on select Friday afternoons.  Registration is not required.
