NUTLEY, NJ - The Board of Trustees of the Nutley Public Library announced that a new Interim Director will take over effective Oct. 1.
The new Interim Director will be Michelle Albert. The current interim director, Kirin Patel, will step down and serve as Assistant Interim Director.
Patel was scheduled to retire April 1, 2020. When Nutley Public Library Director Maria Labadia passed away this Spring, Patel accepted the role.
During the meeting, it was also announced that the food drive to benefit the pantry at Nutley Family Service Bureau will continue through the end of the year. Patrons of the library are asked to bring non-perishable food items to the library for collection. The items of the greatest need are peanut butter, tuna, pasta sauce, canned fruit, and macaroni and cheese.
The announcement was made during the open public meeting on Sept. 22. The meeting was held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
