The Nutley Free Public Library has a calendar full of events and programs for May 2018
Tuesday, May 1 at 2:00 Tuesday Afternoon Book Club at Nutley Parkside Apartments. The Nutley Public Library hosts a monthly book discussion at the Nutley Parkside Apartments, 7 William Street, the first Tuesday of each month. The book discussed will be On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan.
Tuesday, May 1, 8, 15 at 9:30 a.m. & 10:45 a.m. – Babygarten classes are for children ages birth through 23 months. Babies and their caregivers enjoy great books, nursery rhymes, playtime, and meet other babies from the Nutley area. Registration is required. Must Be Nutley Resident.
Tuesday, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 at 1:00 p.m. – Play Bridge. No registration required.
Wednesday, May 2, 9, 16 at 10:30 a.m. - Preschool Story Time. Must be a Nutley Resident. Preschool Story Time is for children ages 3-5. Preschool age children and their caregivers enjoy old and new picture books, create arts and crafts, and meet other children from the Nutley area. Registration is required.
Wednesday, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 at 1:00 p.m. – Wednesday Afternoon Knitters. Come share your love of knitting and crocheting with both beginning and experienced knitters. Meet fellow knitters, brush-up on your skills, and learn some new techniques. Please bring your own supplies. This group meets every Wednesday.
Thursday, May 3 at 7:00 pm – Easy Vegan Salads – Create and enjoy healthy salads and learn a few recipes along the way with Registered Dietician Stephanie Bini. May is National Salad Month!
Friday, May 4, 11, 18 at 10:00 a.m. – Two-Year-Old Story Time. Must Be Nutley Resident. Two-year-old classes are for children 2 years of age. Two-year-old children and their caregivers enjoy old and new picture books, create arts and crafts, and meet other children from the Nutley area. Registration is required.
Saturday, May 5 at 2:00 pm – Saturday Afternoon Book Club is a monthly, moderated discussion on books chosen by club members. Copies of each book and its discussion guide are available one month prior to each discussion. The book discussed will be On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan. Refreshments are served.
Monday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. – Pajama Story Time. Make yourself comfortable, put on your pajamas and slippers and meet us in the children’s room. Listen to a story and make a craft. For all ages. No registration required.
Friday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m. - Manga/Anime Club. For grades 7-12. No registration required.
Saturday, May 12 at 2:00 pm – Beatles Next … The Solo Years – Rock historian Vincent Bruno will continue in the footprints of The Beatles story and focus on the highlights of the respective solo post-Beatles careers of John, Paul, George and Ringo
Monday, May 14 at 6:45 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Hooked-On-Books Reading Club. Hooked-On-Books Reading Club is for students entering the grades 4-6. Each month we will read and discuss a selected book, play a game and enjoy snacks. The monthly selection can be picked-up and borrowed at the Circulation Desk. Please read the book prior to attending the meeting. TBA.
Tuesday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. – Graphic Novel Book Club – “Fables: Legends in Exile by Emily Carroll.”
Wednesday, May 16 at 10:30 am – Preschool Storytime (Yoga) - 6:30 pm – Join the Friends of the Nutley Public Library for the Annual Lee Rae O’Brien Author Tea with Cormac O’Brien. This elegant affair will begin with champagne. High Tea will be served by Tarik Huggins. Mr. O’Brien, author of Secret Lives of the First Ladies, will visit with guests to chat and sign his book. Copies will be available for sale. Mr. O’Brien has published books on everything from ancient empires to United States presidents, bringing a distinctive voice to the history genre. Please contact library for registration information. -
Saturday, May 19 at 10:00am - 3:00 p.m. – LEGO Play Time. For ages 5-12. No registration required.
Thursday, May 24 at 7:00 pm – Page to Screen: Jurassic Park – Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the theatrical release of Jurassic Park with our new book club that compares a book to the movie that it is based on. Copies of the book and movie will be available at the front desk in early May. The club will meet again in August.
