NUTLEY, NJ — Pet Valu, a specialty pet food and supplies retailer, has announced it will shutter all 358 of its U.S. stores, including locations in Bloomfield and Clifton.
The Bloomfield location is on Bloomfield Ave. near Aldi, the Clifton location is near Trader Joe's.
Jamie Gould, Pet Valu’s recently appointed chief restructuring officer, said in a news release that the company’s stores “have been significantly impacted by the protracted COVID-19-related restrictions.”
“After a thorough review of all available alternatives, we made the difficult but necessary decision to commence this orderly wind down,” she said.
While there is no official closure date for any of the stores, the Pet Valu US website indicates that store closing sales have already begun. Pet Points Plus Members will accrue points toward awards and receive 5 percent case discounts through Saturday, November 21. Customers are encouraged to use any outstanding gift cards by Sunday, December 13. Online shopping is no longer available on their website.
Pet Valu US licenses its name and contracts for certain services from Pet Valu Canada, which is not impacted by the wind down.
