NUTLEY, NJ - TAPinto Nutley is partnering with our friends at Pretty Handy to bring even more holiday cheer to our neighbors. Look for the three red TAPinto Mini Coopers at Santa's arrival on Friday where we'll be collecting non-perishable food, personal care items, and new unwrapped toys.
The Thanksgiving holiday is behind us, but hunger doesn't take a holiday. That's were guests of the Nutley Chamber of Commerce's annual Santa's Arrival come in. Each year, thousands of people descend on the Nutley Park Oval to kick off the season of giving. What if some people took it a step further and made this the season of giving back?
Working with Rob and Joyce of Pretty Handy, we arranged to have shopping carts and three red Mini Coopers on the field where residents can drop off donations of food, personal care items, and new unwrapped toys.
The food items will go to the Supplemental Nutrition Programs at Vincent Church, the personal care items will go to Vincent Church's Care Closet, and the toys will go to the Chieffo Family Toy Drive for children at Clara Maas Hospital and the Cancer Center at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
The best bets for food donations are: Peanut Butter, Canned / Jarred Fruit including Pineapple, Apple Sauce, and Mandarin Oranges, Tuna, and Canned Chicken. Cans of Pumpkin puree and canisters of oatmeal are also welcome. Of course all non-perishable food items will be graciously accepted.
Personal care items like soap, dishwashing liquid, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and all those little bottles of shampoo and lotion from your last hotel stay are all welcome.
For toys, we'll be accepting new, unused toys for children and teens spending time in hospital. Keep in mind that some of the kids in hospital are teenagers.
Look for the shopping carts near the three red TAPinto Mini Coopers at the Oval.
Gates to the Oval open at 1 p.m., Santa touches down at 2 p.m., we'll be there the whole time, on Friday Nov. 29
