Since launching, this is the first Nutley Board of Education election on which TAPinto Nutley reported in which the individuals in the first three ballot positions were not voted into office. Demaio was in the first ballot position, Carnicella was in position five, and Kucinski was in position six.

Carnicella is the current Nutley Board of Education President, Kucinski is the Vice President. The BOE will elect the president and veep during the first meeting in January 2020. Sources suggest that the two will remain on their current roles.

On a humorous note, Kucinski was in ballot position "6E" - as news of the election results broke, one of his supporters texted TAPito Nutley stating that "Charlie brought 6E back." The text was a reference to the song "Bringing Sexy Back."

For the NJ Assembly, Ralph Caputo received 2217 votes and Cleopatra Tucker received 1732. As the assembly district covers multiple municipalities, preliminary results for the assembly race will not be know until later.

Results are considered unofficial until the Essex County Clerk Christopher Durkin certifies the election in the coming weeks.

As polls were closing for the municipal election, the members of the Nutley Emergency and Rescue Squad held their election for officers. Jonathan Arredondo was re-elected as president of the Rescue Squad. Arredondo made history last year as the first Hispanic president of NVERS.
