Newark's Project Ready announced that it has partnered with Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote initiative to increase voter enfranchisement in Newark.
When We All Vote is a non-profit, non-partisan organization launched by the former First Lady in 2018 along with Tom Hanks, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Janelle Monae, Chris Paul, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
We are thrilled to be partnering with When We All Vote to change the culture around voting, increase participation in every election, and help close the voting gap," said
Project Ready Executive Director Shennell McCloud. "Through our partnership, we hope to ensure that every New Jerseyan is registered and ready to vote in 2020 and beyond.
Through a new online portal, residents can check and update their voter registration status.
"From local school boards to the Senate, it’s important to make our voices heard and vote in every election," McCloud said. "Facilitating voter registration is a key first step."
