NUTLEY, NJ - It was a seemingly ordinary Thursday, in a seemingly ordinary suburban community, but as the day rolled on, this day in Nutley would be remembered for the 'Case of Pizza Fraud.'

On Jan. 23, officers of the Nutley Police Department received a phone call from a local pizzeria about potential fraud.

This was not the usual fraud involving pineapple as a topping or cauliflower crust. (It should be noted that the most unusual police news stories always involve Florida, Texas, or Nutley.) This police story involved two of the three usual locations.  On this day the cast included Texas and a Nutley business.

The pizza establishment, whose identity was not revealed, received a phone order. Moments later, what seemed ordinary, took a turn toward the unusual. Another call, this time from a Texas resident, stated that their MasterCard was used to place an order for pizza.

Shortly after the call from Texas was received, three parties arrived to pick up the order. Quick thinking on the part of the staff resulted in a denial of service.

Descriptions of the actors were provided to Nutley police who are investigating the matter.

Should more details become available about this case, TAPinto Nutley will share them once known.
