NUTLEY, NJ - Opening Day of the Nutley Farmers Market is about more than fresh fruit and vegetables, it is a place for the community to come together for, community.
While the market itself officially opens at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday June 16, the community comes together at 8:15 a.m. for the first of the weekly "Market Walk and Talk" events." Everyone is invited to join the Greenutley team for a three-mile walk through Nutley Parks with a featured expert. On opening day, Mayor Dr. Jospeh P. Scarpell will continue the tradition of being the first speaker of the season.
Scarpelli will be discusion "Sustainable Sundays" and the Sustainable Jersey Certification.
Each week the market features live music. For opening day the artists of the Nutley School of Music will be performing. And yes, tipping the artists in strongly encouraged.
Also joining the fun is The Creativity Caravan - a mobile creative arts studio whose mission is to spark, engage, and nourish creativity in communities everywhere.
As always, the Nutley Farmers Market will become a crossroads of the community, a place to run into friends you haven't seen in a while, and a place to strike up a conversation with somone you just met.
The Nutley Farmers Market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot net to the old appliance store. Look for signs on Franklin Ave. directing market patrons to FREE parking in municipal lots.
