NUTLEY, NJ - Philly Pretzel Factory on Franklin Ave. will celebrate National Hot Dog Day on Wednesday July 17 with $1 Pretzel Dogs all day.
“Pretzel Dogs,” an all-beef Dietz and Watson hot dog with American cheese wrapped in pretzel dough that is made on site starting early every morning. Every batch of pretzels starts with flour, yeast, water, and salt are added in the extra large mixer to form the dough that becomes pretzels.
From the mixer, the dough is dump into a chute that resembles the chute of a large garden chipper shredder. What started out as a large dough ball in one end of the machine goes through and extruder from which measured portions of dough are sliced. Those pieces of dough then go into a large rolling machine that releases long thin cigar shaped pieces of raw dough. Those pieces of dough are then twisted by hand into familiar pretzel shapes before going into the oven.
As an added treat on National Hot Dog Day, starting at 11 am first 100 guests receive a FREE Pretzel Dog. The $1 pretzel dogs will be available all day.
Philly Pretzel Factory is located at 234 Franklin Ave Nutley. It is directly across the street from Thai Essence.
