NUTLEY, NJ – Many Nutley restaurants and eateries have been doing good deeds, sending meals to police departments, fire departments, first responders and healthcare facilities.
Luna Wood Fire Tavern and their affiliated meal prep company, NJ Fresh Meal Prep, are donating food not just in Nutley, but throughout North Jersey.
“My partner Matt Leah and I started NJ Fresh Meal Prep in January, it’s a sister company to Luna, and we work together to do all the cooking and packaging inside Luna,” owner Lou Ritacco told TAP. “Organizations and individuals have called Luna to donate sandwiches, pizzas or trays of food to local law enforcement, EMS, firefighters and local hospitals. Giving great family specials and deals is our way to help people who are hungry and keep Luna in business.”
For the past two months since the government-mandated shutdown, Luna has offered a 50% discount to all healthcare workers.
“We are matching $10 meal donations,” said Ritacco. “It’s been successful in feeding our essential workers. We donated to many places, including the Nutley Family Service Bureau.”
Ritacco is grateful that Luna can be open during this time to serve Nutley with pick-up and take-out meals.
“Supporting Nutley, our local hospitals, or any organization is something that we just have to do,” Ritacco said. “I’m not a doctor or nurse, but food is my way of helping.”
