NUTLEY, NJ - TAPinto Nutley's joint fundraiser project with Pretty Handy raised $300 for the Care Pantry at Vincent United Methodist Church this past holiday season.
The project, launched just before the First Sunday in Advent, consisted of upcycled holiday mugs filled with fragrant soy wax in scents like rosemary-sage, mulled cider, and balsam spruce. The mugs were obtained from the Thrift Shop at Nutley Family Service Bureau.
The Care Pantry at Vincent Church collects and distributes personal care items and cleaning products to those in need. Restrictions on SNAP (food stamps) benefits puts things like toothbrushes, soap, dish detergent, and household cleaners out of reach for some members of the community.
Since launching in 2016, TAPinto Nutley has been committed to bringing awareness to programs and projects helping those in the community who may need a hand. In the past year, the team has stepped up our efforts to actively raise funds for local groups. In 2019, the publisher sold pretzels at the Old Canal Inn Oktoberfest with all proceeds going to the Nutley Family Service Bureau food pantry. The #StrongerTogether Nutley t-shirt project benefits Nutley Little Theatre.
Pretty Handy has been a leader in raising funds for community groups. Since opening in 2019, Rob Noone and Joyce Lin have lead efforts to raise funds for all manner of groups in the community. Their most celebrated project is the mask project with has supported several Nutley institutions. Readers can find the current projects in the Fundraiser section of the Pretty Handy website.
Nutley being Nutley, there is always something to support, and always people looking to support something good. TAPinto Nutley will continue to share information about these efforts.
