NUTLEY, NJ - Media law and public records attorney CJ Griffin will present "OPRA 101: How To Use Open Public Records Act to Hold Government Accountable Tuesday at the Nutley Public Library.
OPRA, the Open Public Records Act, is a law that allows citizens to obtain public governmental records. The act allows journals, activists and regular citizens to obtain information in the spirit of governmental transparency. Transparency helps curb corruption and misconduct.
The informational session will include:
- How to draft and OPRA request
- An explanations of common exemptions
- What to do when you request is denied
