NUTLEY, NJ - Mayor Dr. Joseph P. Scarpelli threw his hat into the ring for the Nutley Board of Commissioners race. Scarpelli is the 12th resident to pick up a candidate packet from the Office of the Municipal Clerk in Nutley Town Hall. 

Scarpelli previously told TAPinto Nutley his intention to run for re-election, by picking up the packet his intentions are confirmed. 

Scarpelli joins a crowded field of residents running for the township's governing body. Others running are: Carmen Allessio, Alphonse Petracco, David Wilson, Ken Reilly, Frank Contella, Pearl Wang, Tom Evans, Chris Cullari, Sam Fleitell, John Kelly, and Mauro Tucci.

In order to make it on the ballot for the May 12 race, candidates must obtain a candidate packet from the Office of the Municipal Clerk in Nutley Town Hall during business hours. The first hurdle in the race is obtaining petition signatures. To even be considered, a candidate must have 225 registered voters sign their petition. Only one registered voter is allowed per page of the form. The form is more detailed than just signing one's name on a list. The deadline for submitting petitions is March 9, 2020.
