NUTLEY, NJ - The Essex Clerk certified the results of the May 12, 2020 Nutley Board of Commissioners (BOC) election and the results show the teamwork and mutual respect that are hallmarks of a board that must lead the township in unprecedented times like these.

The people mailed their ballots and re-elected the incumbents, Dr. Joseph P. Scarpelli, Mauro Tucci, Alphonse Petracco, and Thomas Evans, plus new-comer John Kelly.

Traditionally, the newly formed BOC selects the next mayor. In recent history, that person has been the candidate with the most votes. Since there was a tie for first place this year, Scarpelli and Tucci decided to split the duties of mayor, Tucci will take serve as mayor for the first two years, Scarpelli will serve the following two years.
