NUTLEY, NJ - Municipal 2019 budget transfers and a cancellation of a reserve balance were approved during the Tuesday, Dec. 31 Nutley Board of Commissioners public meeting.


Public hearings for Ordinances 3434 and 3435 introduced by Public Safety Commissioner Alphonse Petracco, originally scheduled for public hearings for the Dec. 31 meeting, were tabled and were to be heard during the Thursday, Jan. 2 public meeting.

Ordinance No. 3434 will fix the salaries of certain officers and employees of the township effective Jan. 1, 2018 for the IBEW Local 1158 of the Department of Public Safety. Public Safety telecommunicator’s salaries will be $23,000 minimum $23,000 to $64,000 maximum.

Ordinance No. 3435 will fix the salaries of certain officers and employees of the township effective Jan. 1, 2018 for the FMBA Local 44 and 44A Department of Public Safety was also introduced by Petracco. The salaries for firefighters will be $25,000 minimum and $105,599.19 maximum; lieutenants’ salary will be $106,300.64 minimum and $127,124.67 maximum; captains will be $126,590.37 minimum and $148,650.22 maximum; and deputy chief will be $166,688.58 minimum and $185,879.89 maximum.


Transfer of appropriations in the 2019 budget were approved for the following departments. Department of Revenue and Finance $18,000 from Construction Code Official Other Expenses to Construction Code Official Salary and Wages; Department of Parks and Public Property $22,000 from Health Insurance to Recreation Committee Salary and Wages, Parks Other Expenses, and Telephones Salary and Wages; and Department of Public Works and Water Utility $111,000 total from Sewer System Salary and Wages, City of Newark Water Other Expenses, Annual Audit, and Group Insurance to Recycling Salary and Wages, Parking Lot and Meter Maintenance Other Expenses, and Passaic Valley Water Other Expenses.

The cancellation of the Accounts Payable Reserve balance in Water Utility Department for the Water Operating Fund in the amount of $368,864.67 was approved.

A refund of overpayment of tax charges in the amount of $2,196.89 for the year of 2017 to the owner of 32 Humbert St. was approved.

Nutley Junior Raiders Booster Club’s on-premise 50/50 cash and merchandise raffles for Feb. 9, 2020 were approved.

The next Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
